Hook up

The Stanley manual tells me to hook up the engine as soon as I start off. What it doesn't tell me is the exact procedure. "Press down the pedal only, not the round catch." Fine. Throttle open or closed? If open, how far? When the car is moving, I can't get the pedal to move with reasonable foot pressure. Thoughts?

How much effort to move pedal while stationery??,,,Is there viberation in pedal while rolling,,The springs on the pedal are rather strong,,for a reason,,,but on light throttle , it should be easier? than the brake pedal i think,,,Is the engine overhauled or modifyd,,or ??,, Is the oil pump working O-K//,,Ben

In hooking up, let off of the throttle briefly while going into hooking up and it will go into hook up easier. I have driven your car and there is nothing wrong with the hook up or it's springs.
