Whatever happened to the Stanley Torpedo?
It is difficult to find any history about the racer.
What are the dimensions of the body?
I would like to build this racer.

Giovanni

The original stanley land speed racer the Rocket was destroyed in 1907 when it crashed on its return run for the land speed record. There are pictures of the remains of the car collected together after the wreck and people taking pictures with it, but I don't know much beyond that of what I've read. I'm sure there are others who know much much more than myself.

There's a book that talks about the history of stanley sold by the stanley museum and other steam organizations which describes that and much of the other history of stanley. Also a replica has been constructed of the rocket. I don't know whether the stanley museum owns it or not, but it was run in 2006 or 2007 I believe at ordmond to commemorate the 100th anniversary. I'm sure you may have already found much of this information on your own.

Sincerely,
Robert Hopkins
