Stanley's Copper Plated Engine Parts, Why?

For years I have wondered why the engine parts of the Stanley steam engines were copper plated. It has to do with heat treating. The areas that were to not be hardened were plated with copper. The areas to be hardened were free of the copper plating. Read more about this at [www.vpmetalcoat.com]
