The fuel level gauge on the end wall of the tank is held in by a threaded retaining ring. Is this designed to pull straight out? It appears stuck in place and I don't want to get strong with it if I am missing something. The other gauge and float assembly on the top,of the tank has a threaded body and easily unscrewed but is quite different to the gauge assembly in the end wall of the tank.

What is the standard distance valve face to valve face in the 740 20hp engine? Internal micrometer says 77.75mm and one of the visible ports is razor edged and jagged I am assuming it is significantly worn.

Generally the seat wears more in the middle,leaving a concave seat,,
The valve wears convex as a result,,
They will sort of mate if left undisturbed,,in their travel
If the travel is disturbed they are not so likely to seal
Rock and a hard place,,,
I expect most of us hobbyists will still be using English measure
Not sure on this,,assumption on my part,,I have 1--7" mikes and
a 4' [48"] Vernier,,and just a small MM mike,,Dial gauges all
English measure
There is not a lot of "meat" in the valve chest
For that matter there is not a lot of extra iron anywhere on the car,,
