Crank end rod seal

<HTML>Has any one had any experience with, or have knowledge of, force actuated metal seals? These seals are fabricataed from a low friction material such as silicone bronze in a split ring configuration. They have inner and outer rings with a cone shaped interface. A longitudal force (spring), forces the outer ring(s) outward and seals against the housing. The inner ring(s) is forced inward sealing against the rod. In theory, the clearances are zero. Thus, seepage is zero.

<HTML>Jerry,

I believe I have a couple books on the design and application of these seals but I have not had any practical experience with them. I can see what my books list for information if you wish.

<HTML>Peter,

Yes, I would appreciate any technical data, references or textbook titles that discuss this type of seal. Also, I would be interested in any lubrication information regarding this type of seal.
