my grandfather's Stanley

<HTML>Remembered that my grandfather once said that he owned a Stanley Steamer and thought I'd share this story: My grandfather, Robert J. Woodington, grew up in Cassville, Wisconsin. He was born in 1914 and passed away ten years ago. Grandpa said that he worked on the car for quite awhile, trying to get it to run, as it hadn't come with a manual. One day a tool fell under the front seat and when he reached under to get it, found the manual. It didn't take him long to get it running. The steam boats were still running, and Cassville was a stop for them. The steam boats would blow their whistles when they were close to signal the workers to come down from the saloon to unload the boat. Grandpa fixed up a steam whistle on the car, waited until he figured the workers had gotten a swallow of beer, and blew his whistle. The workers ran down to the dock, only to discover no boat. Grandpa said he kept them at it all day long.</HTML>
