Faux Louvers

Locomobile bodies and hoods (bonnets) on coffin-nosed Stanley's feature false louvers. Why??? Were there vehicles preceeding these designs that had real louvers.

Hi Harry,
I asked the same question of Pat Farrell awhile back. He told me the louvers are in the coffin-nosed hoods for added strength. Hope all is proceeding well with your restoration!
