Stanley Body Colors

Through the years, Stanley steamers had very few color choices for their cars. The following are some of the modern paint formulas and modern paint codes presently used by today’s restorers. Most all Stanleys had black fenders (mud guards). Entries below in quotations are taken directly from the Stanley season catalogs. Color formulas are those that have been used successfully by restorers. Additional correct Stanley colors, paint formulas and corrections are requested.

We need to make any corrections needed to Stanley Body Colors, and we need to get current paint formulas for these Stanley body colors: Regent Green, Royal Green, Usatona Red, gun metal gray, and cobalt blue. When we get our information complete and correct, it will be published so that the information can be referenced when needed.

Also needed are body colors for Locomobile steamers and Stanleys from the beginning through 1909. The information has to be accurate.

Add to the list:

Locomobile Steamer: (from Brad Austin, Seattle, WA, USA) I have the formula for the original maroon which matches perfectly with the original paint under the tank cover. From photographs, it appears to be the same color as Peter Wueringers original 1901 in Austria. For your research, it is Wine Red which equals: "National Fleet Color" Color: Maroon" Du Pont Centari.
It has a gold 1/32 stripe.
