Dear David,
I will pass the news of your cylinder blocks on. I have one of the piston valve cylinder blocks here that some year I hope to put together with a 20 HP Stanley engine. I picked it up about 20 years ago and I would guess that it was made in the last 35 years.
The piston valve engine has many advantages over the slide valve engine. White knew what was best and they were very successful with the piston valve. If F.E. had been 10 years younger in 1918, you would have seen the Stanleys proceed in full production with piston valves.
