Where would the serial number be located and how do I decode the number?

If you are asking about the '13 Stanley/Chev parts pile. The engine was really a 1909 Stanley model U 20 hp engine as used in the 1909 Stanleys the Model U and the Model R. It sold for a little over $6,000. The engine serial number was located on the top cross brace which connects the two engine frame rods. To decode the number, buy the book "The Stanley Steamer" by Kit Foster which is for sale on the internet and also from the Stanley Museum. There are too many engine variables for me to discuss all of them here.

AND . . .

The very best place to "BUY THE BOOK" is on the Stanley Museum web site, www.stanleymuseum.org. You can also call Kim White directly at (207) 265-2729. Yes, we have the book in cloth and leather.

No self respecting steam car owner or enthusiast should be without it!
