brooks1.jpg (44629 bytes) brooks2.jpg (49928 bytes) brooks3.jpg (52129 bytes) brooks4.jpg (46067 bytes) of my Brooks, presently under repair, the lubrication system had obviously quit, as things were dry as a bone, this caused the "D" valves to chew deeply into the valve face on the block, to the extent the valve stem had to spring sideways for the D valve to seat at all. This is the worst wear I have ever seen on any steam engine.

The dark stain is from penetrating oil,  The only way to salvage this block is to put a false face back for the valves.
