<HTML>Hi Everyone!!

I've got a coupla questions for all the knowledgeable steam buffs
on the forum---how does the Brooks engine compare to the Stanley??
I think they were made as a close copy of the Stanley-right???
Are they as reliable and dependable as the Stanley or the Bryan??
Were there different sizes made??? I understand the bore and
stroke were 3.5X4.5, which should be around 20 hp-right???
I'm interested in the Brooks engine because I've heard of
one that might be for sale, and I'm in the market for an engine
in the 20-30 hp range.
Thanks again to JW for the great forum.......

Cheers---Chuk Williams</HTML>

<HTML>Hi Chuk,
The Brooks engine is as you say similar to a stanley, with a few improvments and built stronger around the crossheads, with a nicely made oil tight removable aluminum case around the crank etc, the engines where only built in one size which was 4" X 4.5" so about 18-20 HP, as a Brooks car owner, I would be interested to find out the number of the engine you know of, the number is stamped on the top of the crank case and repeated just below where the reverse control enters the casing, it should start 26 - - - , hope this helps, Jeff.</HTML>
