<HTML>I have broken a connecting rod in my 1920 Stanley 735A and am unable to find a spare in New Zealand.

1. Does anybody have a successful weld procedure for repairing these rods?

or

2. Can anybody help with a replacement rod or advise me where I could obtain one from.

3. Which connecting rod version (or forging numbers) are the best??</HTML>

<HTML>Ken, I will ask a friend, who may have some spares, if he will part with one.

Please e-mail me at steamin-yankee@att.net with your e-mail address and mailing address.

Regards,

Howard Randall</HTML>

<HTML>Ken, I too had broken a connecting rod and I took it to a shop that does hard chroming for hydraulics. They cut off the old piston rod next to the crosshead and welded on a new piston rod of the correct diameter. Next they machined the threads back onto the piston end and then they hard chromed it and ground it to size. Excellent work and it is better than new. That was done about 15,000 miles ago on my 1914 10 H.P. Stanley.</HTML>
