Locomoblie steam consumption

Dear Friends in steam,
after Corona lockdowns yesterday I finally had the opportunity to take part in a classic car ride near to Vienna, Austria. My little Locomobile managed the route well, but in sections it showed low performance and high steam consumption. Even when I brought the lever of the hookup and reversing control into the neutral position and the vehicle was stationary, there was strong steam escaping at the steam outlet when the throttle lever was opened. I can only explain it to myself that the slide valves were not pressed properly on the cylinder, but a gap released steam directly to the exhaust bypassing the working cylinder. However, when the valve chamber was opened, the picture was perfect. The slides could be levered slightly away from the sealing surface, but should be pressed well against the clean sealing surface by the steam pressure. Maybe someone knows this problem and can help me.

Best regards from Vienna Peter
