There were seven Woodbury's here, none more than $30.00.
This is one of my favorite places to buy books and literature.

<HTML>I wonder what my signed copy would bring? As you now, my father found the car for Dr. Woodbury, and we are the "Coates" family in the book. Dr. Woodbury signed and sent a copy to my father. My father gave all of his six children copies of the book. I have his signed copy and three others for my kids!

There is another character in the book that may be known to some. The book character is "Vergle Jones". The real-life character (and I mean CHARACTER) was Horace Nichols from Freeport, Maine. Horace had a tarpaper shack for a garage near the current L.L. Bean store. Horace repaired cars and had a keen interest in steam. He owned an EX (?) Stanley and built at least two working Stanley models.

My father bought one of these and I can remember him running it in our living room for George Whitney, when he visited us in the early 1950's to talk about the Roper (ca 1868) steam motorcycle that was sitting in a glass case in the corner of the living room.

Great memories!</HTML>

<HTML>Howard
I remember the Roper in the living room, also the big glass jug on the mantel of the fireplace. What ever happened to that?

<HTML>Howard,
Whew! Can't match that background!
One of my copies is signed by Woodbury (bought off ABE books about $25.00).
I should ask if you would sign mine also!

<HTML>There are 15 copies now listed at Barnes and Noble, starting at $13. I highly recommend this book, I've re-read mine many times.</HTML>
