1913 Stanley Oil Pump

<HTML>On the 1913 Stanley oil pump design the location for the outlet check is obvious- but were is the inlet check to be located? In the oil tank or is it part of the oil pump casting itself- somehow? The inlet check for my model F is also not obvious. I have never had trouble pumping oil so I haven't had a need to take the stuff apart. All I see is the 3/8 inch flared copper tubing coming from the tank connnecting to the pump??? Whats up? Help</HTML>

<HTML>Dear Don, Their isn't a check in the oil line. The oil pump is a positive displacement oiler. Each stroke is measured out by the adjusting piston. The positive displacement is adjusted by the two lock nuts on the adjusting piston that float with the spring. These are very sensitive. I adjust them at one flat at a time. All air has to be out of your line before connecting with the oil pump. In the 1914 Stanley price list for parts (same as '13) on page 31 shows an accurate phantom view of the pump.</HTML>
