It turns out to be a 1922 with a notorious history

<HTML>We got all the paperwork in today and this turns out to be a 1922 740D Informal Limousine.

Apparently this car has quite a history among steamer collectors. It was formerly owned by a member of the Bugs Moran Chicago North Siders gang. It is the same car that was apparently previously one this site at

If anyone got any further we would love to have the information. We will certainly let you know when this one goes on the block.

Thanks

<HTML>Have you found the serial number? It should be on the same brass plate as the model number.</HTML>

<HTML>Interior was cloth a couple years ago-

This is Jim Jones' 740 sedan. It has a foot rest in the rear, but no divider.

I got to play with this car on a few occasions before Jim's fatal highway accident

<HTML>22252 is the serial number. JW is correct, the interior is cloth, there is no divider window, but it does have footrests in the rear.

Still tracking down more info, but we will let you know when it goes up for sale.

Thanks!

<HTML>This car also has a set of jumpseats in the rear.

We are finishing up the paperwork, and cleaning up the loose ends, but if all goes well this car will be offered for sale through our company with the last day of bidding being St. Valentines Day 2005.

The history on this car is quite amazing. By next week we will have a webpage with all of the info and background available.

E-bay Auction

<HTML>The auction has started for this car. The reserve is set at what the current owner deems fair for a Stanley in this condition. The "Story" that goes with it will add whatever intrinsic value the buyer sees fit.

Here is the link to the auction-

eBay auction results

<HTML>The Stanley did not reach reserve. Apparently $75,000 was reserve because with me being second high bidder, I was given the second chance opportunity to bid again after the auction had closed at $75,000.</HTML>

<HTML>Pat-

You must mean that you were given a second chance opportunity to make a bid of $75k [reserve] ater the auction closed at $32,211 [having not met that reserve].

Or you could sell all your cars and buy this New York Registration Tag for a Stanley for $499k. [see link below]

It would free up a lot of shop space, requires zero maintenance, it is Earth friendly - zero hydrocarbons, never needs water,

.....and it won't catch your clothes on fire! LOL!
