Kidney water gauges

<HTML>Can anybody tell me what the seal is between the body and float of the kidney water level gauge as used on the Stanleys. In the box of bits there is the remains of a folded copper washer which is about the right size but is this the correct item or is there some form of gasket. If it is the copper washer can anybody point me in the direction of a source for a new one.

Thanks

<HTML>If you mean the joint between the body and the stem, with the bearings and float shaft, the original gasket was asbestos fiber gasket material. Any flat gasket material meant for steam service should work. The joint at the magnet cap on the end of the stem also uses a flat fiber gasket, but a rather thin one. If the joint surfaces are really clean and smooth, I think soft (annealed) copper gaskets should work.</HTML>
