These
peppy little 10 HP roadsters are considered by many to be great fun to drive.
This particular 4-passenger Stanley Steamer is in a class by itself - a very
original car, with a rich history of antique car/Stanley notable owners,
according to the on-line version of the Stanley Register. Along with its
current owner, Allen Blazick, these include Bob Bahre, Vernon D. Jarvis,
S. D. Jarvis, D. Cameron Peck, J. B. Van Sciver, Jr, and Ralph G.
VanDine. Indications are that it was discovered in the early 1940s, one
of numerous old Stanleys resurrected during the gas-rationing years of
WWII. This little survivor fortunately needed few alterations, aside
from "modern" tires and wheels to fit them, to go from barn to roadway
once again. And once the war was over, it passed into very attentive
hands, receiving perhaps only one straightforward restoration in the
late 1940s. It has been largely untouched, except for new upholstery,
since then. It had spent nearly 30 years preserved in the Early American
Museum setting in Silver Springs Florida, documented by numerous photos
and picture postcards over the years.
While an older restoration, it would appear that this desirable "coffin
nosed" early Stanley is a very presentable and dependable runner, only
awaiting a new owner to take it out on the road again. $85,000.
